Living my dream as an author
I’ve been a writer since I was 15 years old when I began writing poetry with a friend. We filled several spiral notebooks with prose that was an expression of our personal experiences as teenagers…you can only imagine what we wrote about!
I became an author in 1998 when I published my first book Moms and Their Young Spirited Boys. What a magnificent experience that was to publish my own book.
In 1998, I also began my novel Anything is Possible. When I began my novel, I only wrote the synopsis and three chapters before putting it away when life intervened. Nine years later, the theme of the story manifested in real life. I felt compelled to revive the novel and complete the story within a story, which I finally did in March 2010. Can I manifest the ending into reality as I did in the beginning? Anything is possible!
In 1999, I began my non-fiction book Zesty Womanhood at 40 and Beyond: Second Act, New Role. I didn’t complete this one until 2006, taking a couple of sabbaticals along the way.
You might wonder why it took me so long to complete my novel and non-fiction book and get them out there, but timing is everything and I felt that it was only then in 2011 to be that perfect moment to reveal the fruits of my labor.
But then catastrophe struck and I had a stroke in mid 2011, which put a damper on things. It didn’t stop me from continuing to write, though. In 2013, I launched my book Radiant Survivor: How to Shine and Thrive through Recovery from Stroke, Cancer, Abuse, Addiction and Other Life-Altering Experiences, which became an Amazon bestseller.
Now, in 2016, I have returned to my childhood, in a sense. My inner child has been screaming to speak and I have started the Sarah’s Gift series to allow her to say whatever it is she wants, within reason.
Because writing is such a deep passion of mine, there will always be more works forthcoming. Writing is cathartic for me; it is helping me in my healing, both physically and emotionally. What more could I ask for!?
